Feng Shui and Tarot

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Not both in the same breath during Sunday’s show but it was a fun couple of hours all the same…

Cynthia Chomos, a local Feng Shui expert, was kind enough to stay up past her bedtime and do an hour with us. It was illuminating to hear her describe the roots and applications of an ancient science that has enjoyed wide popularity lately in the West. Simply put, Feng Shui is the art of harmonious placement of objects in one’s personal living and work spaces for good fortune and healthy relationships. If that seems too woo-woo, you have not seen Cynthia’s website. Feng Shui turns out to be a rigorous business! Check it out at www.cynthiachomos.com

I feel like I made a new friend in Mike Hernandez, one of the coolest of cool cats in the metaphysics trade. He knows Tarot like the back of his hand; in fact, Mike has a subtle understanding of the cards and their relationship in a spread which gains the confidence of perfect starngers. Some of the latter called in for a free demonstration Sunday. The results appeared to satisfy their curiosity and offer them genuine optimism about the state of their lives. Mike puts a great deal of stock in personal ethics: He sought every caller’s permission to do the reading although they called in for that express purpose. It looked to me like a compact between querent and reader to seek the truth and hope for the best. Mike said that he offers counsel like an uncle would. There are uncles and then there are uncles, I’ve found. But Mike dispenses wisdom like a favorite relative handing you a glass of wine. I look forward to his return engagement.

Alisa and Dale

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Two very different ladies were on the show Sunday.

Alisa Goodwin Snell is a marriage and family therapist in Utah: She has written a great book for women that are seeking partnership and marriage with a “good man.” Your definition may differ from hers on the latter term but that just makes it all the more worthwhile to read Alisa’s book, “Dating Game Secrets for Marrying A Good Man.”  Guys can learn a lot from it, too.  Alisa maintains two related websites:

www.utahsdatingcoach.com

I love Alisa for her pleasant personality and strong values. She has been dubbed my show’s “Relationship Guru.” Listen for her return visit sometime early in 2009!

Dale O’Malley was a kick in the pants; I think that I even said so on-air. Dale is a medium with 20 years’ practice and apparently a crowd of ardent admirers on both sides of the veil. We talked about the nature of the afterlife and her adventures in mediumship. A personal note: Dale impressed me by giving me information concerning my mother, who crossed over at the end of March. It was an unsettling experience in a way, as in I am not settled in my view of spiritualism yet cannot fail to take note of the accuracy of what info Dale presented. I need to think more about this subject. Mediumship certainly will be featured on the show recurrently. For more about Dale O’Malley, see www.thewhisperingspirits.vpweb.com

Night of the Living J.R.s

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Two estimable gentlemen with those initials came on the show Sunday night: Dr. John Ryder and Dr. John Robinson. They have more than a name in common.

Each man spoke eloquently of the need to turn away from negative habits of thought and action; both encouraged listeners to embrace a positive viewpoint and reinforce that new perspective with a crucial refocusing of attention.

Dr. Ryder has written a book called “Positive Directions: Shifting Polarities to Escape Stress and Increase Happiness.” It is not a self-help pep talk. Ryder wrote it to serve up a volume of personal development. I admire the book’s comprehensive approach to mental and emotional reform. If you are ready for a paradigm shift, this may be the challenge for you! Dr. Ryder will be on the program again early next year to work through specifics of his book and its implications for a new world view that he eagerly anticipates: a Third Renaissance. Is this a “greening” of America redux? If so, it would seem that we are perpetually trying to get it right, quite apart from the anticipated joys of the Obama administration. In that regard, Dr. Ryder and I instantly agreed on a salient point: if success and happiness are to be, they are up to the “me” that does all the experiencing.  Check out book and author at www.shiftingpolarities.com.

I had a great time talking with Dr. John Robinson as well. A clinical psychologist and interfaith minister, he advocates a turning within for harried and stressed-out moderns who are facing the timeless predicament of gaining the world at the risk of losing our souls. Paraphrasing Dr. Robinson, it seems we have the ever-present opportunity to encounter the Divine in everyday life; climbing the summit to meet with a holy man that possesses THE answer is neither required nor prudent for people working out their destinies in the swarm of hectic societies.

Dr. Robinson teaches workshops on how to enter a union with the Divine by making use of what he calls Heaven’s Compass. It’s a great frame of reference for souls who have yet to realize that, though they can wander off the path, they cannot get truly “lost.”

Finding Heaven Here, his latest book, will be available in January. For more info and to order a copy, see www.johnrobinson.org. Like Dr. Ryder, the Rev. Dr. Robinson is cordially invited to expand on his teaching as my guest anytime.

By The Numbers

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

I had the pleasure of interviewing popular numerologist Tania Gabrielle for an hour last night. Tania is unique among her peers for her synthesis of three ancient numerological systems which she uses in a variety of ways.

We discussed the Presidential election, with Tania replying to my direct question: “Who is going to win?” with an intriguing caveat. She said it will come down to how soon the results come in. If it is an early night, look for … a McCain win. Numerologically, Tania said, November 4 gives him a slight edge. If, however, the tallying carries over into the 5th, the situation shifts to Obama’s side. The phrase, “What a difference a day makes” never seemed more pertinent. Ominously, she suggested that some sort of upheaval could ensue in the aftermath of this remarkable campaign. Voting machine fiasco? Court challenges? Nothing is foreordained, Tania asserted but if trouble arises, she would be among the least surprised.

Tania has written a book that details how numbers have played a crucial role in U.S. history. You can read more about it and much more about the author and her variety of products, at her website www.taniagabrielle.com
